The network operations center or NOC is the beating heart of the networks that deliver value to customers. As satellite and teleport services continue to evolve toward greater complexity and higher levels of automation, that "heart" needs to be kept fighting-fit to maintain the quality of operations. Engineering and operations staff face the natural limitations of their organizations. Budgets have their limits and human beings can only manage so much change successfully. Building a better NOC is seldom a greenfield project but is instead a continuing evolution involving new technologies, new workflows and updated procedures for handling them.
